IP Address (Internet Protocol Number)

IP address (Internet Protocol Number) identifies the address of a host or other intelligent device on the Internet. A unique address on the Internet or private network consisting of 4 parts separated by dots, eg 123.00.00.456 URL’s, such as www.aldridge.com, are converted to IP addresses by the digital routers that control Internet routing.

An IP number is a unique numeric address that identifies a computer on a TCP/IP network.
