Crime Stoppers proves that many more crimes can be solved when private citizens and the media get more involved. Kim Ogg, former Executive Director of Crime Stoppers of Houston, Inc., turned to The Aldridge Company for help with website hosting and design. “I had inherited a website that was only half operational,” said Ogg. “The Aldridge Company helped make it much more user-friendly and graphically exciting -- so much so that we won statewide recognition for Website of the Year 2003 by Texas Crime Stoppers, Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.”

Crime Stoppers’ website maintains the latest information on unsolved crimes, fugitives, predators, crime hot spots, and much more. And it boldly features the number of the Hot Line that people can call to anonymously provide tips. The volume of information that goes onto their website is enormous and constantly changing because of the large number of serious crimes committed in the Houston metropolitan area every day. “When you see a murder rate of one per day -- not to mention the robberies, rapes, and identity thefts -- the task is daunting,” said Ogg. “We measure our success by the number of serious felony crimes that are solved through tips to our hotline. In 25 years we exceeded 25,000 cases solved, and we are very proud of that.”

As with most not-for-profit organizations, the budget is tight. “It is always a challenge for small businesses to find the time, resources, and the know-how to stay on the cutting edge of technology,” said Ogg. “That’s exactly what The Aldridge Company provides to Crime Stoppers.
